Engineering adapted to the exact requirements of Gulf industrial projects

Machinery built around your application

G.B.C. Gulf delivers custom pipe beveling solutions across the UAE and the wider Gulf region, developing machinery and dedicated tooling to match the specific constraints of each client’s process. When standard equipment does not suit the pipe diameter, material grade, operating environment, or production rate a project demands, G.B.C.’s engineering team works with the customer to define requirements and build a solution accordingly.

G.B.C. has more than 40 years of manufacturing experience in pipe cutting and plate beveling. That depth of knowledge is what makes customisation reliable: each adaptation starts from proven machine architecture and proven tooling geometry, modified for the specific case rather than designed from zero.

What G.B.C. Gulf can engineer for you

Customisation at G.B.C. Gulf spans modifications and purpose-built configurations across several areas:

  • Extended pipe diameter range – standard G.B.C. machines cover a defined bore range; custom internal-grip or external-mount configurations extend this to large-bore pipes or small-bore precision tubing beyond catalogue limits.
  • Special material tooling – inserts and cutting geometries optimised for hard alloys, Duplex and Super Duplex stainless steel, and other materials that require non-standard cutting parameters.
  • Confined-space and platform configurations – compact or modular machine assemblies designed to access pipes in restricted locations: offshore modules, heat exchanger bays, vessel interiors, and subsea pull-head installations.
  • Multi-operation heads – combined different operations in a single pass, or simultaneous ID/OD projects, where volumes make integrated tooling more efficient than sequential passes.
  • Custom bevel profiles – J, K, compound, or project-specified weld-prep angles that deviate from standard V or single-bevel tooling.
  • Replacement and non-catalogue components – mechanical parts, dedicated inserts, and spare components for older G.B.C. machines, discontinued models, or machines manufactured by third parties.

Gulf sectors that drive custom engineering requirements

Several sectors active in the UAE and Gulf region generate requirements that fall outside standard machine specifications:

Water and desalination infrastructure

Projects such as the Taweelah reverse osmosis plant and Hassyan facilities use large-diameter Duplex and Super Duplex pipes that require precise cold cutting and beveling. Heat-producing methods are not permitted at operating desalination plants; G.B.C.’s mechanically driven machines produce no heat and no sparks, making them the technically correct choice. Custom tooling is often required to handle the specific wall thicknesses and material grades used in Gulf desalination pipework.

Power generation and nuclear

G.B.C.’s Boiler and Superboiler series are used for tube skinning and boiler tube preparation during turnarounds at gas-fired power plants and at facilities such as Barakah nuclear power station. Where standard tube range or machine geometry does not match the specific boiler configuration, G.B.C. engineers an adapted solution for the outage.

Shipbuilding and marine repair

Drydocks World, Albwardy Damen, and other Gulf marine repair operators work with seawater-grade pipe systems in confined ship compartments and on deck. Custom machine configurations allow G.B.C. equipment to reach pipe positions that standard units cannot, and dedicated inserts handle the copper-nickel and naval alloy grades used in marine piping systems.

Aerospace and defence

For Strata, EDGE Group, and MRO operations at Gulf aerospace facilities, high-precision orbital cutters and custom tooling manage thin-walled titanium and stainless hydraulic tubing to aerospace tolerances. G.B.C. engineers tooling geometry and clamping systems to match the specific tubing specifications of each programme.

Cold cutting: the baseline for Gulf custom solutions

All G.B.C. machines – standard and custom – cut mechanically, generating no heat and no sparks. In Gulf industrial environments, from live oil and gas plants to operating nuclear facilities and spark-sensitive petrochemical areas, this is frequently the only method approved for on-site pipe preparation without a Hot Work Permit. Custom G.B.C. solutions designed for Gulf site conditions carry this same operational advantage: the engineered machine fits the dimensional requirement, and the cold-cutting principle ensures it fits the site safety requirement.

From specification to commissioning and beyond

G.B.C. Gulf supports customised projects through every stage:

  • Technical consultation – G.B.C. Gulf’s engineers review the application, pipe specifications, site constraints, and production requirements before proposing a solution.
  • Design and manufacturing – G.B.C. designs and builds custom machines and tooling at its facility, using the same components and quality standards as the standard product range.
  • Testing and validation – G.B.C. tests each customised machine against the specified parameters before delivery, with cut samples and dimensional reports available on request.
  • On-site commissioning – where required, G.B.C. Gulf technicians are deployed to install the machine, carry out initial setup, and train the operating team at the customer’s facility.
  • After-sales and spare parts – G.B.C. Gulf maintains the support relationship after delivery, supplying consumables, tooling replacements, and technical assistance for the life of the machine.
