Plate Bevelers

Industrial metal plate beveling machines for Gulf region

G.B.C. Gulf plate beveling machines process metal sheets from 6 to 120 mm thick, producing precise bevel profiles for welding across a range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, Inconel and various industrial alloys.

The range covers eight models - from portable single-operator machines through to heavy production units for continuous workshop use - serving oil & gas fabrication, shipbuilding, pressure vessel manufacturing and structural steel construction throughout the UAE and wider Gulf region.

Plate beveling machines for Gulf environment

A correctly prepared bevel is a prerequisite for a sound weld. On pressure vessels, structural plate work and hull sections, the bevel angle and face quality directly determine whether the weld will meet specification. G.B.C.’s plate beveling machines produce consistent bevel profiles – V, J and compound geometries – using milling rather than grinding or thermal methods: a precise, burr-free edge with no heat-affected zone, ready for fit-up without secondary dressing.

Models share a common design logic: automatic feed and damping where the application demands it, milling heads built for extended production runs, and bevel angle adjustment that can be set quickly between jobs. For Gulf fabricators working across multiple plate thicknesses and material grades, the breadth of the range means the right machine is available for each specific requirement.

G.B.C. plate beveler range

Eight models cover plate thicknesses from 6 to 120 mm (¼” to 4¾”), with manual and motorised options and standard or reverse bevel capability across the range.

BASIC EDGE 50 – 6–60 mm (¼”–2⅜”)

High-output production beveler for plate from 6 to 60 mm. Bevel angles are adjustable from 10° to 70°. Automatic feed and damping maintains consistent cutting pressure along the plate edge, reducing operator intervention and stabilising bevel quality across long runs. Suited to fabrication workshops handling regular volumes of structural plate or pressure vessel components.

COMPACT EDGE – 6–60 mm (¼”–2⅜”)

Lighter-construction beveler for plate from 6 to 60 mm at angles between 15° and 60°. Easier to reposition around the workshop than heavier production units while still handling carbon steel, stainless, duplex and other alloys common in Gulf fabrication. Practical where the machine needs to move frequently across different plate sizes.

COMPACT EDGE REVERSE – 6–60 mm (¼”–2⅜”)

Shares the COMPACT EDGE specification (6–60 mm, 15°–60° bevel range) with reverse bevel capability added. Produces bevels on the underside of a plate edge in a single setup, removing the need to flip the workpiece. Useful in structural and pressure vessel fabrication where both faces of a weld joint require preparation.

EDGE 80 – 6–120 mm (¼”–4¾”)

Primary machine for thick plate work from 6 to 120 mm. Produces standard V-bevels and J-bevels at 0°–30° for heavy structural and pressure-containing components. Automatic detection sensors read the plate edge and adjust the cutting head without manual intervention. Used across shipbuilding, pressure vessel fabrication and heavy structural work throughout the Gulf.

EDGE 80 REVERSE – 6–120 mm (¼”–4¾”)

Extends the EDGE 80 to include reverse bevel operations on thick plate up to 120 mm. Retains the same J-bevel range (0°–30°) and automatic detection sensors. Handles both standard and reverse bevels on heavy plate for pressure vessel and offshore structural work in a single machine, reducing equipment inventory on site.

MULTIEDGE 80 – 6–120 mm (¼”–4¾”)

Widest operational range in the plate beveler series: standard V-bevels, J-bevels (0°–30°), plate facing, and clad layer removal in a single machine. Variable milling spindle speed from 300 to 1,500 rpm matches cutting speed to material type and thickness. Reduces equipment inventory for Gulf fabricators handling heat exchanger, cladded vessel, and multi-material plate projects.

CHALLENGE – 6–40 mm (¼”–1½”)

Portable plate beveler for 6–40 mm plate, available in fixed or variable bevel angle configurations. Generates no sparks during cutting – making it the correct choice for on-site work in live refineries, operating petrochemical plants, and oil & gas facilities where a Hot Work permit cannot be issued. Compact and easy to transport for maintenance teams working in the field.

MANUAL EDGE – variable thickness

Hand-guided beveler with interchangeable insert mills for curved or irregular plate edges where a self-propelled machine cannot track reliably. Handles aesthetic beveling where surface finish is a priority. The insert mill system allows quick profile and material-grade changes without swapping the machine body. Suited to repair work and fabrication of curved structural components.

Where plate beveling machines are used in Gulf industry

Shipbuilding and marine repair: Facilities for marine and offshore projects, shipbuilding and ship repair shipyards use plate beveling machines throughout the construction and repair cycle. Hull plate sections and structural deck members require precise bevel preparation before butt welding; the EDGE 80 and MULTIEDGE 80 handle the plate thicknesses and high-strength marine grades involved.

Oil and gas and petrochemical fabrication: Plate beveling is a routine step in pressure vessel and separator construction for our clients, where thick-wall carbon steel and duplex plate must meet stringent weld qualification requirements. For on-site work at operating plants, the CHALLENGE’s spark-free operation eliminates the need for a Hot Work permit.

Wind tower and renewable energy fabrication: Gulf states are expanding renewable energy capacity, and wind tower sections require consistent bevel preparation on large-diameter cylindrical plate. The EDGE 80 and BASIC EDGE 50 handle the wall thicknesses typical of tower base sections.

Choosing the right plate beveling machine

Plate up to 60 mm, workshop production: BASIC EDGE 50 and COMPACT EDGE cover most requirements; add COMPACT EDGE REVERSE where reverse bevels are needed on the same thickness range.

Heavy plate up to 120 mm: EDGE 80 for standard and J-bevel profiles; EDGE 80 REVERSE where both faces require preparation; MULTIEDGE 80 where facing and clad removal are also required.

On-site work in restricted environments: CHALLENGE – spark-free operation, no Hot Work permit required.

Curved or irregular plate edges: MANUAL EDGE handles geometry that motorised machines cannot track.
